Passengers flying with the airline can soon enjoy fast internet onboard without charge after a major agreement involving Elon Musk's communications firm.
Complimentary plus Quick Internet for All
The carrier revealed that this complimentary, “reliable and lightning-fast” wifi offering through Starlink becomes offered for travelers flying coach, business, and premium cabins starting next month.
Widespread Implementation Throughout Multiple Carriers
The umbrella firm of the airline, IAG, announced it had finalized an deal with the satellite firm to offer internet access on 500-plus jets across their airlines, which also include the Irish airline, the Spanish carrier, plus Vueling.
Smooth Connectivity from Boarding through Landing
British Airways noted that the introduction of the service formed part of a multi-billion pound “modernization” initiative and would deliver smooth connectivity coverage to flyers starting at the gate through landing, including when in flight across large bodies of water or isolated areas.
Customers will be able to link numerous electronics while they will not need a unique password.
“Gamechanging for us and passengers, enhancing the journey onboard our flights by giving passengers smooth wifi from gate to gate.”
Existing Connectivity Options
Limited internet access is currently provided for British Airways travelers through nearly all of its aircraft using the .air platform.
Enrollees of the airline's reward scheme can transmit messages and text-based correspondence during flights free of charge, whereas passengers looking to watch music, movies, or content throughout the journey and are not travelling in business or first may pay from ÂŁ4.99 and ÂŁ21.99 for one internet package.
